Library time

Every Wednesday Rata Wha get to go to the library along with their buddies in Rata Tahi.
Mrs Munro, our librarian, makes sure this is a really special time for the children.
It can be hard to pick just two books, when there are so many to choose from!

Fun on Friday

Everyone likes MOOT. There are so many activities to choose from and so many friends to play with.

Welcome certificates

Our big buddies welcomed some of us to school.

Our Author of the month...

Our author of the month is the amazing Julia Donaldson. We have been reading lots of her stories in class.
Here's a link to Julia Donaldson singing a song that she wrote based on one of her books.
(Challenge to older children - can you spot the spelling mistake in the lyrics to the song on YouTube?)

What the Ladybird Heard

Great spelling!

We had fun today using our whiteboards and magnetic letters to practise some high frequency words.
Rata Wha are awesome spellers!

Going dotty!

We had fun in Art on Friday painting lots of different coloured dots. Check out our blog next week to see what we are going to do with them now.

Thank you!

Easton brought in a book to donate to Paraparaumu School, after their library was burnt down in a fire.

Letterland

We use Letterland as part of the Literacy programme in Rata. The children love the characters and they help them learn about letters and sounds. Here is a link to some useful information for parents about the programme on the Letterland website.

Fun with the IPads!

Mrs Lewis's 'experts' in Rata Whiti taught us how to use an app called Pic Collage.

Welcome to Term 3!

We are lucky to have lots of new children in Rata 4. By the end of Week 3 there will be 12 altogether.

We have had a busy start to the term, getting back into routines or learning them for the first time, catching up with old friends and making new ones. We have been worked really hard while having lots of fun.

We have been visited by our big buddies from Kauri and have visited Mrs Lewis's class - the newly formed Rata Whitu.
